Remetendo aos anos de 1980, e ainda a série de assustadores longas-metragens da franquia <a href="/app/noticia/diversao-e-arte/2014/11/24/interna_diversao_arte,458942/filme-a-hora-do-pesadelo-comemora-30-anos-aterrorizando-geracoes.shtml"><em>A hora do pesadelo</em></a>, num universo que reacende a atmosfera das pizzarias, dos parques de diversões com bonecos animatrônicos e do audiovisual registrado em fitas VHS, Five nights coloca em cena um pesado drama para o protagonista Mike (Josh Hutcherson, de Jogos vorazes). O saudosismo dele, agora dedicado à criação da irmã Abby (Piper Rubio, no papel de uma pequena desenhista compulsiva), está no ado em que vivia entre família feliz, ainda com a presença do irmão, que viria a desaparecer.</p>
<p class="texto">Diretora do longa <em>Terra assombrada</em>, Emma Tammi aposta numa trama ritualística, que mescla terror psicológico e violência. Com ar retrô, a fantasia se devia (por sorte) da proposta do péssimo Terrifier, centrado num demoníaco palhaço. Desgastado, Mike consegue emprego, num lugar que "mexe com as pessoas", segundo reforça um agente de empregos, interpretado por Matthew Lilard. Mike se torna segurança de um lugar repleto de fliperamas e atrações defasadas, povoado pelos fantasmas de personagens estufados (mas nada fofos) como Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Foxy e Chica.</p>
<p class="texto">Para reforçar a temática oitentista, a cineasta convovou Mary Stuart Masterson (<a href="/app/noticia/revista/2017/11/12/interna_revista_correio,640090/chef-troca-a-criatividade-da-publicidade-para-ser-criativa-na-cozinha.shtml"><em>Tomates verdes fritos</em></a>) para dar vida para uma tia surtada. O comprometimento da policial Vanessa (a bela e talentosa Elizabeth Lail) no enredo é um dos diferenciais, no filme que ainda apela para a figura da babá (clássica, nos filmes oitentistas). Mesmo com desfecho decepcionante, o filme vale pela evocação do enorme e temido Coelho Amarelo.</p>
