"articleBody": "<p class="texto">A líder da Igreja Protestante alemã, Annette Kurschus, suspeita de acobertar casos de abusos sexuais, anunciou nesta segunda-feira (20) a sua renúncia "para evitar danos" à instituição.</p>
<p class="texto">Segundo o jornal alemão <em>Siegener Zeitung</em>, Kurschus foi informada na década de 1990 sobre acusações de abusos contra um ex-colega do distrito eclesiástico de Siegen, mas não tomou nenhuma medida. </p>
<p class="texto">O homem está sendo investigado pela polícia. </p>
<p class="texto">A teóloga, de 60 anos, declarou que conhecia a família do suspeito há muito tempo e estava ciente da sua homossexualidade e infidelidade conjugal. </p>
<p class="texto">Kurschus disse que tentou proteger a família, mas foi criticada pela "falta de transparência".</p>
<p class="texto">"É ainda mais amargo porque nunca, e enfatizo, nunca tive a intenção de fugir à minha responsabilidade, ocultar fatos importantes, encobrir fatos ou mesmo encobrir uma pessoa acusada", acrescentou. </p>
<p class="texto">Embora a Igreja Católica enfrente há anos várias denúncias de abuso sexual, a Protestante foi pouco afetada.</p>
<p class="texto">Um estudo encomendado pela Conferência Episcopal Alemã em 2018 concluiu que 1.670 clérigos católicos no país cometeram algum tipo de agressão sexual a 3.677 menores entre 1946 e 2014, embora se acredite que o número real de vítimas seja muito maior.</p>
<p class="texto">As indenizações da Igreja Católica para as vítimas de abusos na Alemanha aumentou de 5.000 euros para até 50.000 (54.600 dólares ou 203.707 reais na cotação da época) em 2020, mas os ativistas dizem que a quantia continua insuficiente. </p>
<p class="texto">Pagamentos no valor de 28 milhões de euros (30,5 milhões de dólares 148,9 milhões de reais na cotação atual) foram aprovados só no ano ado.</p>

A líder da Igreja Protestante alemã, Annette Kurschus, suspeita de acobertar casos de abusos sexuais, anunciou nesta segunda-feira (20) a sua renúncia "para evitar danos" à instituição.
Segundo o jornal alemão Siegener Zeitung , Kurschus foi informada na década de 1990 sobre acusações de abusos contra um ex-colega do distrito eclesiástico de Siegen, mas não tomou nenhuma medida.
O homem está sendo investigado pela polícia.
A teóloga, de 60 anos, declarou que conhecia a família do suspeito há muito tempo e estava ciente da sua homossexualidade e infidelidade conjugal.
Kurschus disse que tentou proteger a família, mas foi criticada pela "falta de transparência".
"É ainda mais amargo porque nunca, e enfatizo, nunca tive a intenção de fugir à minha responsabilidade, ocultar fatos importantes, encobrir fatos ou mesmo encobrir uma pessoa acusada", acrescentou.
Embora a Igreja Católica enfrente há anos várias denúncias de abuso sexual, a Protestante foi pouco afetada.
Um estudo encomendado pela Conferência Episcopal Alemã em 2018 concluiu que 1.670 clérigos católicos no país cometeram algum tipo de agressão sexual a 3.677 menores entre 1946 e 2014, embora se acredite que o número real de vítimas seja muito maior.
As indenizações da Igreja Católica para as vítimas de abusos na Alemanha aumentou de 5.000 euros para até 50.000 (54.600 dólares ou 203.707 reais na cotação da época) em 2020, mas os ativistas dizem que a quantia continua insuficiente.
Pagamentos no valor de 28 milhões de euros (30,5 milhões de dólares 148,9 milhões de reais na cotação atual) foram aprovados só no ano ado.
