<p class="texto">Gilmar Mendes ainda citou a atuação de Barroso na presidência do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) e no combate às fake news. Segundo ele, o novo presidente do STF se destacou pela defesa de pautas ligadas aos direitos humanos e fortalecimento da democracia.</p>
<h3><strong>Posse do novo presidente</strong></h3>
<p class="texto">O ministro Luís Roberto Barroso tomou posse como presidente do STF na tarde desta quinta-feira (28/9), na sede da Corte, em Brasília. A cerimônia reúne cerca de 1,2 mil convidados, entre eles deputados, senadores, ministros da própria Corte, de outros tribunais superiores, procuradores, juízes e familiares e amigos do magistrado.</p>
<p class="texto">Barroso ocupa o posto deixado pela ministra Rosa Weber, que se aposenta até 2 de outubro, em razão da idade limite de 75 anos para permanecer em uma das cadeiras do tribunal. Como vice, tomou posse o ministro Edson Fachin. A troca no comando da Corte ocorre em um momento de tensão com o Poder Legislativo. O Supremo considerou inconstitucional a tese do marco temporal das terras indígenas, mas o Congresso aprovou lei que restringe as terras indígenas àquelas ocupadas até a promulgação da Constituição. </p>

Gilmar Mendes ainda citou a atuação de Barroso na presidência do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) e no combate às fake news. Segundo ele, o novo presidente do STF se destacou pela defesa de pautas ligadas aos direitos humanos e fortalecimento da democracia.

O ministro Luís Roberto Barroso tomou posse como presidente do STF na tarde desta quinta-feira (28/9), na sede da Corte, em Brasília. A cerimônia reúne cerca de 1,2 mil convidados, entre eles deputados, senadores, ministros da própria Corte, de outros tribunais superiores, procuradores, juízes e familiares e amigos do magistrado.
Barroso ocupa o posto deixado pela ministra Rosa Weber, que se aposenta até 2 de outubro, em razão da idade limite de 75 anos para permanecer em uma das cadeiras do tribunal. Como vice, tomou posse o ministro Edson Fachin. A troca no comando da Corte ocorre em um momento de tensão com o Poder Legislativo. O Supremo considerou inconstitucional a tese do marco temporal das terras indígenas, mas o Congresso aprovou lei que restringe as terras indígenas àquelas ocupadas até a promulgação da Constituição.
